How would you notice if you’re in control of your own mind, or if your mind is controlling you? Examples would be when your fully aware of your surroundings and have the authority to make conscious decisions, while sometimes our minds can become unsconscious and receive external thoughts that interrupts our conscious thinking, which leads to procrastination etc…
It’s hard for me to tell sometimes whether I’m in control or not as I also have OCD which is hard to determine if my thoughts are plain repetitive or constructive.
Are you conscious or subconscious most of the time?
I also have OCD, and while a lot of the time I am driven to do things by subconscious compulsions, I do feel like I am mostly in control. With most OCD rituals and compulsions, they are mostly harmless things, arranging something in a certain fashion or doing actions in a certain order. However, if you have a serious issue, you burn the tips of you fingers after shaking hands to eliminate germs or refuse to breathe in certain areas for fear of airborne pathogens, that’s when you know that you are not in control. It depends on the severity of your disorder.
