Still unknown; however, the preponderance of evidence shows that the emails were leaked by an insider, presumably one whose conscience would not permit him/her to go along with the rampant fraud at the East Anglia CRU.

Climategate, is one of the thousands of climate research centers, funny that you’re only mentioning Climategate.

Are they planning a liberal new world order? OMG

I’ve heard that the security was good enough on those servers that it was either some one who was exceptionally good at cracking security — say the Russian Government, or someone on the inside.

I hope it was someone on the inside, it would make the rest of the fallout much more interesting.

Hey, pegminer, if we had hacked the emails of the hijackers and prevented 911, would you call the hackers thieves? If CRU weren't hiding the truth no one would care, would they?

I haven't heard who the thieves were, if that's what you're asking. I also have not heard who funded the thieves, but Russian energy companies would not surprise me.

I have not heard, however we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the individual for making the fraud public. The explanation that I think sounds most plausible is that students at a University in Russa hacked the computer in East Anglia and released the emails to the web. That makes sense because the economy of Russia is struggling and Russia has large amounts of fossil fuels which could be used to help restore the Russian economy. Restrictions on the use of fossil fuels could damage the economic recovery of Russia.
